WEST CHESTER, PA — A former Charlestown Township fire marshal has been found guilty in a shooting case, and a West Grove man has pleaded guilty in the death of a 9-month-old child, according to the Chester County District Attorney’s Office.
Following a four-day bench trial before Judge Allison Bell Royer, Timothy Hubbard, 50, was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and related charges, the district attorney’s office said. Authorities stated the charges stem from an incident in which Hubbard, while serving as fire marshal, responded to a fire investigation, identified a person he suspected of setting the fire and attempted to confront them.
According to the district attorney’s office, when the individual drove away, Hubbard allegedly pursued the vehicle and fired a gun at least twice into the rear window and trunk and in the direction of the driver. Prosecutors said Hubbard then allegedly struck the vehicle with his own car and attempted to block it from leaving. The office further stated that Hubbard later misrepresented the incident to state troopers. Sentencing is scheduled for a later date.
In a separate case, Enrique Lopez-Gomez, 32, of West Grove, pleaded guilty February 11, 2026, to third-degree murder and endangering the welfare of children in connection with the death of a 9-month-old child, according to the district attorney’s office.
Prosecutors said Lopez-Gomez was responsible for the child’s care when he allegedly fell on the infant and later punched the child in the abdomen. Authorities stated Lopez-Gomez did not seek medical care as the child’s condition worsened. Emergency responders found the child unresponsive at a residence in Kennett Square, and the child was later pronounced dead at Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children, officials said. The district attorney’s office stated the cause of death was blunt force trauma resulting in an intestinal rupture and hemorrhage.
Lopez-Gomez was arrested in June 2024 and remains incarcerated at Chester County Prison pending sentencing, according to prosecutors.
