Fire, Disorderly Conduct, and Crashes Mark Busy Two Days for Wyomissing Police

Police News

WYOMISSING, PA — A fire at a railroad-owned building, reports of disorderly behavior, multiple traffic incidents, and a series of crashes kept Wyomissing Police busy over December 26 and 27, according to the department’s official activity log covering the two-day period.

One of the most significant incidents occurred shortly before 2:00 a.m. Friday, when officers were dispatched to Tulpehocken Avenue for a reported fire at a building owned by Norfolk Southern. Police said the property owner was notified and responded. The incident was cleared after several hours, and no further details on injuries or damage were released.

Police also documented a disorderly conduct complaint on Papermill Road Friday afternoon after a report that a male had allegedly masturbated in the lobby of a business on Christmas Day. The complainant contacted police to make them aware of the alleged incident, which was logged for follow-up.

Domestic-related matters were reported as well, including a call on Penn Avenue in which a complainant came to the police station to express concerns after receiving multiple protection-from-abuse orders. The matter was classified as civil in nature, according to the log.

Police activity on Saturday included a reported hit-and-run crash on North Wyomissing Boulevard near Park Road North, as well as another hit-and-run investigation later that day on Spring Street. In one case, officers reported that an investigation was initiated, while in another, the involved vehicle was eventually located and information provided to the complainant.

Several reportable traffic accidents were also handled during the two-day period. A two-vehicle crash with injuries was reported Saturday evening on Museum Road near Old Mill Road, resulting in two patients being transported to the hospital and both vehicles being towed. Officers also responded to multiple complaints of reckless or erratic driving during snowy and inclement weather conditions, though several vehicles were gone upon arrival.

Beyond major incidents, police responded to a wide range of calls for service, including burglar and fire alarms that were determined to be false or accidental, medical assists that resulted in hospital transports, suspicious activity reports involving individuals in residential areas, loose animal complaints, road condition issues related to winter weather, and numerous 911 hang-up calls that were investigated and cleared without incident.

Traffic enforcement remained a steady focus, with officers issuing warnings and citations for alleged violations including speeding, traffic signal violations, unsafe lane changes, and failure to signal. Officers also assisted with disabled vehicles by pushing them out of the roadway and coordinating with public works when conditions deteriorated.

The activity log reflects a total of 32 incidents handled by the Wyomissing Police Department during the December 26–27 reporting period. Police noted that incident listings provide a snapshot of calls for service and do not always reflect final investigative outcomes.

Authorities emphasized that any criminal conduct referenced in police reports represents allegations only. Any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
