NEWARK, DE — A 30-year-old Wilmington man was arrested early Tuesday morning after an attempt to flee police, which ended with a vehicle fire and a series of charges.

According to the New Castle County Division of Police, officers encountered Christopher Lolly on May 13, 2025, at approximately 1:08 a.m., when they noticed a Subaru Outback stopped at the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Sunset Lake Road. Lolly, found unresponsive in the driver’s seat, became alert and fled the scene after officers attempted to wake him. Police briefly pursued the vehicle but lost sight of it near Route 896.

Shortly afterward, officers located the Subaru on fire in a tree line near Old Baltimore Pike and Otts Chapel Road. The vehicle, with open doors and trunk, quickly became engulfed in flames.

The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit assisted in the search and spotted an individual, later identified as Lolly, emerging from the nearby woods and entering an SUV. Officers stopped the vehicle, identified Lolly as the earlier fleeing driver, and detained him. During the arrest, Lolly allegedly resisted and attempted to destroy a bottle containing a liquid suspected to be PCP.

Lolly was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital before being transported to New Castle County Police headquarters. He now faces multiple charges, including felony attempted obstruction of justice, felony disregarding a police officer’s signal, and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, among other offenses related to the incident.

Following his arraignment, Lolly was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $1,155 in unsecured bail. Additionally, it was revealed he had an outstanding warrant from the Wilmington Police Department.
