PHILADELPHIA, PA — Six individuals, including five convicted of illegal reentry to the United States and one convicted of passport fraud, were sentenced this week in federal court, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney David Metcalf.
Ronal Leonardo Suarez, 44, of Guatemala, was sentenced to time served, totaling three months, for illegal reentry following his 2003 deportation. Demetrio Pulido Urbina, 39, of Mexico, also received a sentence of time served, equating to just over four months, for his fourth illegal reentry since 2015. Both men will be deported following their sentences.
Similarly sentenced to time served were Guatemalan nationals Gonzalo Hernandez-Roque, 28, and Guillermo Lopez-Ramirez, 34, who had previously been deported and illegally reentered the United States. Additionally, Martin Astudillo Estrada, 41, of Mexico, received a four-month sentence for his repeated illegal reentries dating back to 2000.
All five illegal reentry cases were prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lizmar Bosques, Rosalynda M. Michetti, Robert Schopf, Rebecca J. Kulik, and Robert J. Livermore. The investigations were led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations.
A separate case concluded with the sentencing of Andres De La Rosa Hernandez, 61, a Dominican native, to time served (roughly two months) for making false statements in passport applications. Officials detailed that De La Rosa Hernandez had fraudulently obtained and renewed U.S. passports over several years by using the identity of a U.S. citizen. His sentencing follows an investigation by the Diplomatic Security Service, with prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert J. Livermore.
