False Report Allegation Emerges After Domestic Dispute Call in Kennett Square

Police News

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A Kennett Square woman is facing charges after police concluded she allegedly filed a false report accusing her ex-husband of assault during a custody exchange last week, according to information released by the Kennett Square Police Department.

Officers were dispatched on November 24 at 4:56 p.m. for a delayed report of a domestic assault that was said to have occurred 30 to 40 minutes earlier in the 800 block of South Walnut Street. Police spoke with the reporting person, 41-year-old Samantha Skerchock, who stated that her ex-husband had pushed her during the exchange.

Investigators say that as evidence was reviewed, including video footage, the account provided by Skerchock was determined to be untrue. According to the department, she provided repeated and consistent statements—including a written statement—knowingly implicating her ex-husband in alleged harassment and assault that police concluded did not occur.

A criminal complaint was filed on November 25 in District Court 15-3-04, charging Skerchock with false reports to law enforcement and unsworn falsification to authorities. The case is pending a preliminary hearing.

All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
