E-Bike Rider Beaten and Robbed With Metal Pipe in New Castle; Police Seek Suspects

NEW CASTLE, DE — State troopers are investigating a violent robbery that occurred Monday night in New Castle, in which a man riding an electric bicycle was attacked and robbed by two unidentified assailants.

According to the Delaware State Police, the incident took place on July 21, 2025, at approximately 9:18 p.m. along the shoulder of South Dupont Highway near Beaverbrook Plaza. Preliminary findings indicate that the victim was traveling northbound on his e-bike when a white Nissan sedan abruptly stopped in front of him.

Police say two men exited the vehicle and assaulted the victim using a metal pipe before stealing several personal belongings. The suspects then fled the scene in the same vehicle, leaving the victim with what authorities described as minor injuries.

The assailants are described only as a white male and a Black male. As of now, investigators have not released surveillance images or video footage related to the case.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is leading the investigation and has asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects.
