DUI Stop, Hit-And-Run, and Crashes Among Wyomissing Police Calls

WYOMISSING, PA — Police handled a range of calls Tuesday, March 10, including vehicle crashes, a pedestrian hit-and-run, a narcotics investigation, and multiple traffic stops, according to Wyomissing police.

Police reported the first incident at 1:17 a.m. when officers conducted a traffic stop on State Hill Road near Cheltenham Drive for a vehicle with faulty license plate lights. Authorities said the driver received a warning.

At 1:18 a.m., officers observed a disabled silver SUV on Route 222 near Berkshire Boulevard while on patrol. Police said the operator and a passenger were having issues with a rideshare application and the situation was resolved.

Officers conducted another traffic stop at 1:44 a.m. on Penn Avenue near Berks Place after observing a vehicle traveling 44 mph in a 30 mph zone. Police said the driver was warned.

At 2:21 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Court Lane near 8th Avenue in West Reading for turn signal and window tint violations. According to police, the driver was cited for driving without insurance.

Police responded at 5:01 a.m. to Cleveland Avenue for a 911 hang-up call. Officers determined the call was made accidentally and no further action was taken.

At 9:14 a.m., officers responded to Penn Avenue in West Reading for a pedestrian hit-and-run crash. According to investigators, the pedestrian sustained minor injuries and the striking vehicle fled the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Police responded at 10:53 a.m. to Woodland Road near Papermill Road for a single-vehicle crash. Officers reported no injuries and said the vehicle was towed while crews also addressed an oil spill.

At 11:29 a.m., officers assisted with a medical emergency on Berkshire Boulevard involving an unconscious individual. Police said EMS transported the person for medical care.

Police responded at 12:04 p.m. to Evans Avenue for a theft report. Authorities said officers collected information from the property owner and the investigation remains ongoing.

At 12:24 p.m., officers responded to Park Road North for a two-vehicle crash with no reported injuries. Police said drivers exchanged information.

Officers conducted a traffic stop at 1:37 p.m. on State Hill Road near Penn Avenue for a traffic signal violation. Police said the driver was cited.

At 1:47 p.m., police responded to Tulpehocken Road after receiving a report that two individuals had been involved in an altercation the previous day at a local facility. According to investigators, the incident resulted in injuries and an incident report was filed.

Officers were dispatched at 1:51 p.m. to Park Road North for an automatic fire alarm. Police said the Wyomissing Fire Department handled the call before officers arrived.

Police responded at 2:20 p.m. to Penn Avenue for a three-vehicle crash. According to investigators, two vehicles were towed and no injuries were reported.

At 2:28 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Berkshire Boulevard near Crossing Drive after observing a vehicle with expired registration. Police said the driver was cited for expired registration, false inspection stickers, and driving without a license.

Police were dispatched at 2:53 p.m. to Garfield Avenue near Reading Boulevard following a parking complaint. Officers spoke with the vehicle owner, who said the vehicle would be moved.

At 2:58 p.m., officers conducted a background check request for employment on Reading Boulevard, according to police.

Police responded at 3:36 p.m. to State Hill Road near the Greenwood Mall for a two-vehicle crash. Authorities said both vehicles were towed and no injuries were reported.

At 5:54 p.m., officers were dispatched to Penn Avenue for a report of a person displaying signs of a mental health crisis. Police said information was documented.

Officers responded at 6:08 p.m. to Ramp J near Crossing Drive for a hit-and-run crash. According to investigators, no injuries were reported and the investigation is ongoing.

Police conducted a traffic stop at 7:23 p.m. on Penn Avenue near Reading Avenue after observing a driver using a cellphone while operating a vehicle. Authorities said the driver was cited after failing to provide proof of insurance.

At 7:52 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Wyomissing Boulevard near Cleveland Avenue for driving at night without headlights. Police said the driver was cited for operating a vehicle without a license.

Police responded at 9:15 p.m. to Hill Avenue for a reported fight between two individuals. The incident remains under investigation, according to authorities.

Officers conducted a traffic stop at 9:25 p.m. on Park Road North near Hill Avenue for a registration violation. Police said the driver received a warning.

At 9:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on State Hill Road for a vehicle blocking the roadway. According to investigators, the driver was cited.

Police reported a narcotics-related investigation stemming from a traffic stop at 10:55 p.m. on North Wyomissing Boulevard near Park Road North. Authorities said suspected marijuana was recovered and the vehicle was towed pending a search warrant.

Officers conducted a traffic stop at 10:57 p.m. on Berkshire Boulevard near State Hill Road for tint and headlight violations. Police said the driver was cited and was found to have a license suspended for DUI.

The final incident occurred at 11:11 p.m. on Papermill Road where police responded to a reported hit-and-run crash. According to investigators, a police report was requested for insurance purposes.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
