DUI Crash, Warrant Service, and Late-Night Incidents Reported in Wyomissing

WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police reported a series of incidents Tuesday ranging from traffic stops and crashes to a DUI arrest and emergency calls across the borough.

Police said the first call of the day came shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Berkshire Boulevard, where officers were dispatched for a report of a person described as possibly homeless walking back and forth in front of businesses. According to police, the individual had left the area before officers arrived.

Minutes later, officers responded to the 100 block of 4th Street for a two-vehicle crash. Police reported the incident involved a minor collision in which one vehicle allegedly struck another vehicle that was parked and unoccupied. No injuries were reported.

Around 11:30 a.m., police said officers received information from an attorney regarding a civil matter involving a request to issue a no-contact letter to individuals on Wellington Boulevard. The matter was documented by police as informational.

Shortly afterward, officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Crossing Drive and Spring Street. According to police, the stop was initiated for window tint, and officers discovered the vehicle allegedly displayed an incorrect license plate. Police said the driver was cited under Pennsylvania vehicle code Section 7124 and the license plate was seized.

Police conducted another traffic stop shortly after 11:30 a.m. along the Route 222 ramp. Officers reported stopping a vehicle for speeding and issuing the driver a warning.

At about 12:09 p.m., police responded to a reported 911 hang-up call on Knitting Mills Way. According to police, officers made contact with security personnel in the area who were unaware of anyone needing assistance. Police said the call was believed to be an accidental dial.

Later in the afternoon, police conducted a traffic stop on Berkshire Boulevard around 4:00 p.m. for an alleged failure to yield the right of way. Officers reported the driver was warned.

At about 5:00 p.m., another traffic stop occurred at Woodland Road and Papermill Road for an alleged failure to use turn signals. Police said the driver received a warning.

Shortly after 7:00 p.m., police said officers responded to High Road to assist the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office in serving an emergency protection-from-abuse order at a residence. Police reported the order was served.

Police conducted another traffic stop around 7:49 p.m. near Woodland Road and Crossing Drive. According to police, the vehicle’s registration had expired and the owner and operator was issued a citation.

At about 9:21 p.m., officers were dispatched to Route 422 for a reportable two-vehicle crash. Police said one driver told officers they moved into the left lane to avoid a reckless driver and struck another vehicle. According to police, both drivers reported the involvement of a “phantom vehicle.” No injuries were reported.

Later that night, police responded to Thrush Road around 10:57 p.m. for a report of a downed wire and a utility pole sparking. Police said the fire department handled the situation.

Shortly before midnight, officers responded to a 911 hang-up call on State Hill Road. Police said the caller later confirmed the call was placed accidentally.

Police said the final incident of the night occurred just before midnight at Penn Avenue and Reading Avenue, where officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash. According to police, officers determined the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Police said the driver was taken into custody and transported to central processing for a breath test, and charges are expected to be filed.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
