WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police responded to 22 incidents on February 10, including a DUI arrest following a crash and attempted flight, reports of possible gunshots, property damage, and multiple traffic violations, according to the department’s daily incident listing.
Shortly after midnight at 12:20 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Penn Avenue near Reading Avenue, where police allege a driver was operating a vehicle with a suspended license and fictitious inspection and emissions stickers. Multiple citations were issued.
Less than 30 minutes later, at approximately 12:49 a.m., officers observed a single-vehicle crash in the same area. Police reported that a male fled the scene on foot but was located shortly thereafter and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The case remains under follow-up investigation.
At 4:09 a.m., officers were dispatched to Paper Mill Road for a reported trespass involving a male refusing to leave. The individual left prior to police arrival.
Later that morning, at 8:16 a.m., officers responded to Delaware Avenue for a possible transformer explosion. The Wyomissing Fire Department investigated and contacted the power company.
Police also documented a neighbor dispute on Cherrywood Road at 10:25 a.m., where a report of possible harassment was taken for follow-up. A background check for an outside agency was conducted shortly thereafter on Reading Boulevard.
At 1:02 p.m., officers assisted with a disabled vehicle on Hill Avenue near Park Road North, pushing the vehicle into a nearby parking lot to clear traffic.
Investigators also received a complaint at 1:27 p.m. regarding a fraudulent e-gift card used without authorization on Crossing Drive. Information was collected and the matter remains under review.
At 4:07 p.m., officers responded to Cedarwood Road after a complainant reported hearing what they believed were four to five gunshots. Police checked the area but reported locating no evidence of gunfire.
Traffic incidents included a two-vehicle rear-end collision on Penn Avenue at 4:29 p.m. No injuries were reported, and accident documentation was provided to the parties involved.
Police were also dispatched to Park Road North at 4:33 p.m. after a complainant discovered the front passenger-side window of a vehicle had been smashed. The incident was documented as property damage.
Other calls throughout the day included parking complaints, a burglar alarm on Wyomissing Boulevard where officers found an ajar door but cleared the residence without incident, a hold-up alarm on Van Reed Road determined to be related to alarm maintenance, and a welfare check for a juvenile on Warwick Drive where no concerns were confirmed.
At 11:47 a.m., officers responded to Delaware Avenue for a reported verbal domestic dispute. The matter was documented, and no further action was noted.
A medical emergency was reported at 7:52 p.m. on Telford Avenue involving a 2-year-old experiencing an active seizure. The Wyomissing Fire Department handled the call.
Police also provided traffic control on Route 422 due to construction and assisted Shillington Police late in the evening on a traffic stop that involved standardized field sobriety testing.
An automatic fire alarm on Wyomissing Boulevard at 10:29 p.m. was determined to be related to a transformer issue, with fire personnel handling the response.
