DUI Arrest, Crashes Among Wyomissing Police Activity Monday

WYOMISSING, PA — Police handled a series of incidents Monday, March 9, including vehicle crashes, traffic violations, and a DUI arrest, according to Wyomissing police.

Police reported the first call of the day occurred at 12:16 a.m. when officers responded to Route 422 near Wyomissing Hills Boulevard for a disabled vehicle left in traffic. Authorities said the vehicle owner could not be located and the vehicle was towed from the roadway.

At 2:14 a.m., officers were dispatched to Cardinal Place after a burglar alarm was activated at a residence. Police said homeowners were on site and advised officers that an overhead garage door had been left ajar.

Officers conducted a security check at a business on Berkshire Boulevard at 3:11 a.m. after locating an unsecured front door. Police reported an interior check was completed and the door was secured.

Police responded at 7:59 a.m. to State Hill Road near Cheltenham Drive for a two-vehicle crash. According to investigators, one person reported injuries and one vehicle was towed from the scene. Drivers exchanged information.

At 10:25 a.m., officers were dispatched to Rose Virginia Road for a burglar alarm. Police said officers checked the property and determined it was secure.

Police reported responding to a 911 hang-up call at 12:29 p.m. on Berkshire Boulevard. Officers spoke with staff at a nearby business who indicated there was no emergency.

Officers also conducted a community policing presentation at a location on Ridgewood Road beginning at 10:00 a.m. Police said an active threat presentation was provided to approximately 30 employees.

At 3:15 p.m., officers conducted a special enforcement detail at a school bus stop on Park Road North. Police reported one violation was observed and a citation was issued.

Police responded at 3:23 p.m. to Old Mill Road following a 911 hang-up call. Authorities said the report was determined to be unfounded.

At 3:19 p.m., officers were dispatched to Route 222 near Crossing Drive for a motor vehicle crash. Police reported one vehicle rear-ended another, the striking vehicle was towed, and no injuries were reported.

Officers were dispatched at 3:59 p.m. to Reading Boulevard after a person reported receiving a threatening phone call from an unknown number, according to investigators.

Police also responded at 4:18 p.m. to State Hill Road near Penn Avenue for a report of a disabled vehicle. Officers reported the vehicle was gone when they arrived.

At 4:19 p.m., officers were dispatched to Woodland Road for a report of an unwanted subject. Police said the individual had already left the area before officers arrived.

Police responded at 5:48 p.m. to Old Wyomissing Road for a non-reportable motor vehicle crash. Authorities said no injuries were reported and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

At 6:13 p.m., officers were dispatched to Route 222 near Crossing Drive for a report of debris in the roadway. Police said a reported vehicle bumper was not located when officers arrived.

Officers responded at 7:26 p.m. to Rose Virginia Road for a burglar alarm activation. Police checked the property and determined the alarm was false.

Police conducted several traffic stops throughout the evening. At 8:42 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle on Crossing Drive near Spring Street for registration light and window tint violations. Police reported the driver was found to have a suspended identification and no valid driver’s license and was issued citations.

At 9:10 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Penn Avenue near Park Road North after observing a vehicle being driven at night without headlights. Police said the driver received a warning.

Police conducted another stop at 10:13 p.m. on Route 422 near North Wyomissing Boulevard for speeding. According to investigators, the driver was issued a warning.

Officers assisted another police department at 10:06 p.m. on North Meridian Boulevard involving a reportedly intoxicated woman causing a disturbance.

At 10:42 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Papermill Road near Woodland Road for failure to maintain lane. Authorities said the driver was cited.

Police conducted a traffic stop at 10:55 p.m. on Penn Avenue near State Hill Road for a red light violation. The driver was issued a warning, according to investigators.

At 11:00 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Penn Avenue near 8th Avenue for a wide turn. Police reported the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Central Processing.

The final incident of the day occurred at 11:47 p.m. when officers stopped a vehicle on Penn Avenue near State Hill Road for a headlight violation. Police said the driver received a warning.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
