WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington police say a months-long investigation into alleged drug activity in the city led to the arrest of a New Castle man and the seizure of a wide range of narcotics and cash.
According to authorities, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division had been investigating suspected illegal drug sales in the 900 block of Lombard Street when detectives identified 42-year-old Jabar Fields as a suspect.
Police said the investigation culminated on Wednesday, February 4, when officers conducted a vehicle stop around 3:55 p.m. in the 2900 block of West 4th Street. Fields was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.
Following the arrest, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Parma Avenue. During the search, police reported recovering approximately 18 grams of powder cocaine, 91.44 grams of crack cocaine, 207 MDMA pills, 260 alprazolam pills, 36 oxycodone pills, nine amphetamine pills, 27 Suboxone strips, and 36 grams of marijuana. Investigators also reported seizing drug packaging materials and $13,145.00 in U.S. currency.
Fields has been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, tier three; two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, tier two; one additional count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $240,100 cash-only bail.
The charges are allegations stemming from the investigation. Fields is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
