WEST CHESTER, PA — A 22-year-old West Chester resident faces several charges following an incident during a traffic stop that escalated into a vehicle pursuit.

The West Chester Police Department reported that on April 20, 2025, at approximately 10:32 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a silver Subaru sedan in the 300 block of Middle Alley. During the stop, the vehicle’s operator provided false identification to officers, later determined to be Kevin Velazquez-Gasca.

When police attempted to remove Velazquez-Gasca from the vehicle to continue their investigation, he reportedly put the car into drive and fled the scene. Officers relayed details of the event to other law enforcement units in the area. Within an hour, Velazquez-Gasca was apprehended by Pennsylvania State Police from the Avondale barracks.

Velazquez-Gasca was transported to the West Chester Police Department for processing and later taken to Chester County Prison for arraignment. He faces charges including escape, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, false identification to law enforcement, driving while operating privilege suspended or revoked, and a traffic violation for operating a vehicle without rear lights.

Authorities emphasize that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
