Dover Man Fatally Shot in Wilmington; Police Seeking Leads in Ongoing Investigation

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have launched an investigation into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a Dover man late Monday night.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of North Franklin Street at approximately 10:02 p.m. on July 21, 2025, in response to a report of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 50-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim, identified as Donnell Seeney of Dover, was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Details regarding the circumstances of the shooting, including a potential motive or suspect information, have not been released. Wilmington Police confirmed that the case remains under active investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
