Domestic Arrest, Injury Crash, and Death Probe Mark Busy Day

WYOMISSING, PA — A physical domestic incident resulting in an arrest, a two-vehicle crash with injuries, and the launch of a death investigation were among 33 calls handled Wednesday, February 11, by the Wyomissing Police Department, according to the department’s daily incident report.

Shortly before 2:00 a.m., officers responded to State Hill Road near Valley Road for a burglar alarm and found the building secure. Within minutes, police were dispatched to Woodland Road for a report of a disorderly female who allegedly refused to leave a location. The individual had left the area upon officers’ arrival but was later encountered again on Penn Avenue, where she departed without further incident.

At approximately 4:35 a.m., officers checked on a woman sleeping in a parked vehicle on Penn Avenue. Police reported the woman declined medical assistance and was cleared without further action.

Traffic enforcement activity continued throughout the morning. At 5:25 a.m., a driver stopped on Park Road North near North Wyomissing Boulevard was warned for alleged speeding and a red-light violation. A reckless driver complaint on Route 222 near Penn Avenue later that morning was closed when the reporting party was no longer following the vehicle.

A disabled vehicle blocking traffic on Park Road North was towed shortly before 8:00 a.m.

At 7:54 a.m., officers initiated a death investigation on Cambridge Avenue. Details regarding the circumstances were not released in the initial report, and the matter was listed as pending follow-up.

Later in the morning, officers responded to Woodland Road for a water-flow alarm at a building; the fire department handled the incident.

Police also documented a walk-in fraud complaint at the station on Valley Road around 11:21 a.m., which remains under investigation.

A report of dogs allegedly left outside for an extended period on Park Road South was investigated just after noon. Officers determined the animals were inside the residence upon arrival.

In the afternoon, officers addressed a parking complaint on Cherry Lane, where a vehicle and trailer were reportedly blocking an alley. The vehicle owner moved the vehicle before further action was taken.

At approximately 3:42 p.m., a traffic stop on Park Road North revealed a driver operating with an expired registration, expired inspection stickers, and a suspended license. Police reported citations were issued.

Two hit-and-run crashes were investigated later in the day — one on Berkshire Boulevard around 5:11 p.m., where a witness provided a license plate number that could not be verified, and another on State Hill Road near Woodland Road at 6:17 p.m., where information was gathered for follow-up.

At 7:33 p.m., officers responded to Hill Avenue at 8th Avenue for a reportable two-vehicle crash with injuries. Police allege one driver proceeded through a red light and struck another vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Evening activity included multiple burglar alarm responses on Berkshire Boulevard and Park Road North, all of which were determined to be false alarms or related to maintenance issues.

Traffic enforcement continued into the night. Citations were issued on State Hill Road for a traffic signal violation and on Wyomissing Boulevard for allegedly running a stop sign and operating with an expired inspection.

At approximately 9:55 p.m., officers responded to Woodland Road for a reported physical domestic incident with injury. Police reported a male was taken into custody and transported to the Central Processing Center. A female involved was evaluated by emergency medical personnel.

Shortly thereafter, officers responded to Evans Avenue for a report of a male allegedly attempting to open a school door. The individual was gone upon arrival.

The department also handled a non-reportable motor vehicle crash on Penn Avenue at 8th Avenue shortly before 11:00 p.m., as well as additional alarm activations at financial institutions and businesses.

In total, police logged 33 incidents for the day.

All allegations referenced in the report remain under investigation. Any suspect, arrestee, or cited individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
