Dispute Turns Deadly: Philadelphia Man Charged in East Lansdowne Shooting

EAST LANSDOWNE, PA — A Philadelphia man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that took place Saturday evening in East Lansdowne, authorities announced.

According to police, the incident occurred on September 6, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Wildwood Avenue. Investigators said Marquise Rasheed Smith became involved in a dispute with Jermaine Richardson, of the 200 block of Blanchard Road in Upper Darby. During the altercation, Smith allegedly produced a handgun and shot Richardson multiple times in the chest, killing him.

Arrest and Charges

Smith was taken into custody at the scene, and the firearm was recovered by responding officers. He was later arraigned by Justice Hopper and committed to Delaware County Prison without bail.

Smith faces the following charges:

  • Criminal Homicide
  • Murder of the First Degree
  • Murder of the Third Degree
  • Possession of an Instrument of Crime

The East Lansdowne Police Department was assisted in the investigation by officers from Lansdowne, Yeadon, Upper Darby, and Darby Police Departments, as well as the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office of Criminal Investigations.
