WILMINGTON, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that began as a shoplifting incident and escalated into violence at the Brandywine Town Center Target Monday evening, leaving three people injured.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on July 7, 2025, at approximately 6:36 p.m., when troopers responded to a report of a robbery at the Target store located at 1050 Brandywine Parkway.
A preliminary investigation revealed that two female suspects were confronted by a Target employee as they attempted to leave the store with unpaid merchandise. During the confrontation, one of the suspects allegedly sprayed the employee with a chemical agent, which also struck two customers who were entering the store at the time.
Following the assault, the suspects fled into the parking lot carrying the stolen goods and left the scene in a gray Honda Odyssey, heading toward Naamans Road.
Emergency medical personnel evaluated the three victims at the scene. The nature of their injuries has not been fully detailed but is not believed to be life-threatening.
The suspects have been described as two Black females wearing dark-colored clothing. As of this report, surveillance footage or images have not yet been released to the public.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is leading the investigation and continues to seek information that could assist in identifying and locating the suspects.
