NEWARK, DE — Delaware State Police are actively investigating an armed robbery that occurred Saturday afternoon outside a Dunkin’ location in Newark, leaving the community on alert as authorities seek the suspect.
According to officials, the incident took place on July 5, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Troopers were dispatched to Dunkin’, located at 48 Geoffrey Drive, following a report of a robbery involving a weapon.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 32-year-old woman was standing on the sidewalk outside the business when she was approached by an unknown male suspect. Police allege that the suspect held a knife to the woman’s throat and demanded her belongings. The victim complied, handing over her purse, after which the suspect fled the scene on foot. Fortunately, the victim was not physically injured during the encounter.
The suspect has been described as a Black male in his 30s with short dreadlocks and was reportedly wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident. As of now, surveillance footage or images of the suspect have not been released.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is leading the investigation and continues to gather evidence and follow leads.
