Delaware State Police Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, DEDelaware State Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash that occurred Monday night in New Castle.

On September 8, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a pedestrian was walking northbound in the southbound lanes of South Dupont Highway, just south of Pulaski Highway. At the same time, an unknown vehicle was traveling southbound in the same area and struck the pedestrian. The impact threw the pedestrian into a wooded area off the roadway, where emergency responders located the victim while answering another call.

The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway was closed for roughly four hours while investigators with the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit examined and cleared the area.
