DOYLESTOWN, PA — A Delaware man is facing multiple criminal charges in Bucks County after allegedly defrauding homeowners who hired him to repair hail-damaged properties, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities say 46-year-old John D. Paoletti, owner of Choice Remodeling and Restoration, is accused of accepting large advance payments for home improvement projects that were never completed. Police have filed charges in four separate cases, and active arrest warrants have been issued for Paoletti, who remains at large.

Investigators believe the scale of the alleged fraud is significant, with confirmed losses exceeding $80,000 across Bucks County. Officials also suspect there may be additional victims in other jurisdictions.

According to the criminal complaints, Paoletti allegedly followed a consistent pattern: he solicited and received upfront payments for home repairs or renovations but failed to perform the work or issue refunds. In some cases, police say Paoletti did not begin the projects at all.

In one reported incident in Morrisville, Paoletti is accused of accepting a $12,500 insurance check for roof repairs but failing to complete the job for nearly a year. Another Morrisville resident allegedly lost more than $10,700 after paying for similar work that was never done. A Lower Makefield Township homeowner reported losing more than $17,500, while a fourth victim in Morrisville claimed a loss of nearly $46,000.

When victims demanded refunds, Paoletti allegedly became unresponsive or avoided communication. In one case, authorities say he told a victim a refund would only be issued if no criminal complaint was filed.

Paoletti faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including home improvement fraud, theft by deception, deceptive business practices, and receiving stolen property. The Morrisville Police Department filed cases in August 2024, November 2024, and August 2025, while Lower Makefield Township Police filed a separate case in December 2024.
