Deadly Family Dispute: Chester Man Charged After Fatal Shooting on Dorian Drive

CHESTER, PA — A domestic dispute in Chester turned deadly Wednesday evening when police responded to reports of gunfire on the 500 block of Dorian Drive, leaving one man dead and another injured, according to the Chester Police Department.

Authorities said that on October 22, 2025, at approximately 6:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to the neighborhood following reports of a shooting. As officers arrived on scene, they heard an additional gunshot and immediately upgraded the call to an active shooter situation.

Responding officers found two individuals outside the residence—one suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand, and a second male, identified as 36-year-old Kyle Rhyanes, who was not injured. Both were moved to safety as police secured the area.

While clearing the residence, officers discovered an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound to the neck. The victim, identified as 35-year-old Corey Rhyanes, was pronounced dead at 6:44 p.m. by medics.

Investigators determined that several individuals—identified as Tonia Rhyanes, Kyle Rhyanes, Corey Rhyanes, and Ka’Brea Johnson—had arrived at the Dorian Drive residence together. A confrontation reportedly broke out, during which Johnson’s boyfriend was shot and Corey Rhyanes was fatally wounded.

Following the investigation, police charged Kyle Rhyanes with multiple offenses, including criminal homicide, first-degree murder, third-degree murder, voluntary and involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, and weapons-related crimes. He was arraigned on October 24, 2025, before Magisterial District Judge David Griffin and remanded to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility without bail.

Authorities emphasized that the case remains under active investigation.
