WILMINGTON, DE — A predawn law-enforcement operation in a west-side neighborhood led to the arrest of a 26-year-old man and the seizure of drugs, ammunition, and cash, according to Wilmington police.
Authorities said members of the Safe Streets Task Force executed a search warrant at about 6:00 a.m. on January 7 in the 200 block of West Sixth Street as part of an investigation into alleged illegal drug sales. During the search, officers encountered Markell Rollins and took him into custody without incident.
Police reported recovering ammunition, multiple magazines including an extended magazine, approximately 263 grams of marijuana, and $748 in cash from the location. Investigators allege the items were connected to ongoing drug distribution activity in the area.
Rollins has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and later released after posting $12,200 secured bail.
No injuries were reported during the operation, and police did not disclose whether additional suspects or arrests are anticipated as the investigation continues.
As with all criminal cases, Rollins is presumed innocent unless and until he is proven guilty in a court of law.
