HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA — A man accused of stealing from a local CVS and nearly striking a police officer with a vehicle has been apprehended and returned to Montgomery County to face charges, following a nearly two-year investigation that spanned multiple states.
The incident began on September 13, 2023, when Lower Moreland Township Police responded to a reported retail theft at the CVS located at 670 Welsh Road. According to authorities, a male suspect was seen exiting the store with a red shopping basket filled with merchandise, bypassing the checkout area and triggering the store’s anti-theft alarm.
The suspect allegedly fled the scene in a black Chevrolet Silverado bearing Virginia plates. A nearby law enforcement agency intercepted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Officers identified a white male and female inside the truck, along with the stolen items. However, police say the male driver suddenly reversed the vehicle, nearly hitting an officer before fleeing at high speed.
Following a lengthy investigation, detectives identified the suspect as 33-year-old Raymond Wright. A warrant was issued for Wright’s arrest, and he was eventually taken into custody in another state on unrelated charges.
Wright was extradited to Pennsylvania and appeared in court on July 9, 2025, to answer for the allegations stemming from the 2023 incident.
As with all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
