HARRISBURG, PA — A California man who crossed the country to sexually assault a 14-year-old girl in Blair County has been sentenced to a prison term of 75 to 150 years, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced.
Don A. Robison, 44, of Milpitas, was convicted by a Blair County jury in February on three counts of unlawful contact with a minor, two counts of indecent assault of a child, corruption of minors, and criminal use of a communication facility. The sentencing judge classified Robison as a sexually violent predator, a designation reserved for offenders deemed to pose a continuing threat to the public.
Prosecutors said Robison was already a registered sex offender in California when he targeted the Pennsylvania victim. Investigators determined that he posed online as a 13-year-old child to befriend the girl, gradually gaining her trust through electronic communications.
According to authorities, Robison ultimately traveled to Altoona, where he convinced the child to disable her home’s security systems, allowing him to enter the residence and carry out the sexual assault.
Sunday described Robison as a repeat offender who exploited a child’s trust to commit serious crimes, adding that the lengthy sentence ensures he will never again be able to harm another child.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Kimberly Moraski and Deputy Attorney General Jacob Jividen.
