WYOMISSING, PA — Police responded to a series of incidents across Wyomissing on Wednesday, March 11, including vehicle crashes, burglar alarms, welfare checks, and numerous traffic violations, according to the Wyomissing Police Department.
Police reported the first incident at 12:21 a.m. on Wyomissing Boulevard near Parkside Drive North, where officers conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle with a faulty brake light. According to investigators, the driver was cited for operating a vehicle without a license.
At 1:49 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle for speeding on the Warren Street Bypass near State Hill Road. Police said the driver received a warning.
Another traffic stop occurred at 4:35 a.m. on Berkshire Boulevard near Tulpehocken Road after police observed a vehicle failing to stop at a red light. Investigators said the driver was cited.
At 4:53 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on State Hill Road near Woodland Road for a vehicle allegedly traveling 60 mph in a 40 mph zone, passing another vehicle on the right while speeding, and failing to stop at a red light. Police reported the driver was cited.
Police conducted another traffic stop at 5:33 a.m. on Route 222 near State Hill Road after observing a vehicle allegedly traveling 77 mph in a 55 mph zone. According to investigators, the driver was cited.
At 8:47 a.m., officers responded to Route 222 near Papermill Road for a two-vehicle crash. Police reported that one driver swerved to avoid another vehicle entering the lane, resulting in a collision. Authorities said no injuries or towing were required.
Officers reported another crash at 9:03 a.m. on State Hill Road where a vehicle allegedly struck a building, causing minor damage.
At 9:07 a.m., police responded to Woodland Road for a burglar alarm activation. Investigators reported that all doors and windows were secure and the alarm was determined to be false.
Police were dispatched at 9:43 a.m. to Christopher Drive for a 911 hang-up call. Officers made contact with the caller, who stated there was no emergency.
At 11:05 a.m., Wyomissing police assisted West Reading police with traffic control on Route 422 near Penn Avenue until fire police arrived at the scene.
Officers responded at 12:18 p.m. to Penn Avenue near Wyoming Avenue for a report of downed wires that were sparking. Police said the Wyomissing Fire Department handled the incident.
Another burglar alarm activation occurred at 12:19 p.m. on Wyomissing Boulevard. According to investigators, the alarm was audible but all doors and windows were secure.
Police received a report at 12:32 p.m. of a reckless driving incident on Berkshire Boulevard near Crossing Drive. The caller reported that another driver approached the vehicle and knocked on the window following the incident. Officers documented the complaint.
At 12:57 p.m., officers responded to Knitting Mills Way for a report of dogs inside a parked vehicle. Police reported that the windows were down and the animals were not in distress.
Police were dispatched at 1:36 p.m. to Penn Avenue for a report of a suspicious person on the roof of a building carrying a backpack. According to investigators, the individual was performing work and the complaint was unfounded.
At 1:43 p.m., officers responded to Penn Avenue near Clayton Avenue after a power outage caused traffic lights to malfunction. Police said borough crews were contacted to place stop signs at the intersection.
Police responded at 2:15 p.m. to Gail Circle for a 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with the resident, who said a child had accidentally dialed 911.
At 4:09 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on State Hill Road near Berkshire Boulevard for a red light violation. Police said the driver received a warning.
Police also responded at 4:10 p.m. to Berkshire Boulevard to check on the welfare of a child reportedly sleeping in a vehicle. Officers reported the child was safe and with a parent.
At 4:14 p.m., officers assisted with a medical emergency on State Hill Road. Police said the individual was transported to Reading Hospital by ambulance.
Police responded at 4:23 p.m. to Route 222 near Ramp CC for a report of a woman waving down drivers. Officers said the individual was gone upon arrival.
At 4:40 p.m., officers responded to Cedarwood Road near Greenwood Mall for a mental health incident. Police said a man was transported to the hospital by EMS.
At 6:15 p.m., police were dispatched to Berkshire Boulevard near Route 422 for a report of a vandalized foreign flag hanging from a bridge. Officers removed the flag due to safety concerns for traffic below.
Police responded at 7:30 p.m. to Forest Avenue near Reading Boulevard for a report of a possible abandoned vehicle. Officers said no vehicle matching the description was located.
At 8:13 p.m., officers responded to State Hill Road for a 911 hang-up call from a business plaza parking lot. Police reported no problems were found.
Police conducted traffic stops at 9:43 p.m. and 10:02 p.m. on State Hill Road near Ramp DE for traffic signal violations. According to investigators, drivers were cited.
At 10:15 p.m., officers responded to Cheltenham Drive for another 911 hang-up call. Police said the call was traced to a residence where a phone malfunction was reported.
The final incident occurred at 11:33 p.m. on Penn Avenue, where police responded to a complaint that a vehicle struck a pothole and sustained tire damage. Authorities said the borough road crew was notified.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
