WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing Police were kept busy across January 9 and January 10 as officers responded to a wide-ranging wave of alleged incidents that included retail thefts, domestic disputes, traffic violations, vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, and multiple burglar alarms throughout the borough, according to department blotter records.
The activity began before dawn on January 9 when Wyomissing officers assisted West Reading Police with an alleged domestic incident on Sycamore Road. Shortly afterward, officers responded to Park Road North for a reported verbal domestic dispute between a man and a woman, which was resolved after the man agreed to separate for the remainder of the day.
Later that morning, police cleared a traffic hazard on Penn Avenue after a Christmas tree was found blocking the roadway, then responded to a burglar alarm on Gail Circle where officers found an unsecured door but no signs of forced entry or theft.
Throughout the day, officers handled a series of alleged vehicle-related incidents, including a hit-and-run complaint on Granite Pointe Drive, a rear-end crash on State Hill Road near Greenwood Mall that resulted in one vehicle being towed, and a separate hit-and-run report that was later determined to be unfounded after video review.
Retail crime also surfaced on January 9 when a store manager on State Hill Road reported that four females allegedly stole an unknown amount of merchandise. That incident remains under investigation.
Police also documented a harassment complaint on Spring Street involving alleged communication-based harassment, a fraud report tied to a $75 Venmo transaction, and a missing person report that was later resolved when the individual was found safe at home.
Medical and welfare calls added to the day’s demands, including a woman who fell inside a store on Woodland Road and was taken to a hospital by EMS, and a disabled vehicle on Wyomissing Boulevard that was safely moved after the owner replaced the battery.
The pace continued into January 10, when police issued multiple traffic warnings and citations during overnight and evening stops across State Hill Road, Park Road North, Penn Avenue, and the West Shore Bypass for violations ranging from speeding and lighting issues to expired registrations, fraudulent inspection stickers, and revoked licenses. One vehicle was towed due to multiple alleged violations.
Officers also responded to a reportable crash on Clayton Avenue and Cleveland Avenue where two vehicles were towed but no injuries were reported. A 92-year-old man experiencing respiratory distress on Cleveland Avenue was transported to Reading Hospital for further evaluation, and later that night, a woman was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation after being found screaming in an alley off Penn Avenue.
Police further handled a welfare check for a man reportedly struggling to walk, multiple 911 hang-up calls, a false burglar alarm, and a community outreach event known as ScamJam 2025, where officers provided financial fraud prevention information to senior citizens on Berkshire Boulevard.
By the end of the two-day period, Wyomissing Police had documented more than 35 separate calls for service, reflecting a steady tempo of public safety activity across the borough.
Authorities emphasized that all criminal matters referenced in the blotter remain allegations only. Any individual identified or connected to these incidents is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
