WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police responded to a variety of incidents Thursday including retail theft, crashes, property complaints, and a late-night public intoxication citation, according to police reports.
Police said the first reported incident occurred shortly after midnight on Penn Avenue when officers responded to a retail theft valued at $10.16. According to police, a male suspect was identified and store staff verbally trespassed the individual from the property.
Around 4:30 a.m., Wyomissing officers assisted Reading police with a BCERT request related to a high-risk warrant service on Chestnut Street in Reading, police reported.
Later in the morning, officers conducted a traffic stop at Penn Avenue and Reading Avenue for an alleged red-light violation. Police said the driver was cited.
At about 9:04 a.m., police responded to Park Road North for a report that a purse may have been stolen from a vehicle. According to police, officers located the purse and returned it to the owner.
Police also received a complaint about a vehicle parked on Oley Street that allegedly interfered with street cleaning operations. Officers documented the information, police said.
Another traffic stop occurred around 11:07 a.m. on Berkshire Boulevard for a window tint violation. Police said the driver received a warning.
At about 11:35 a.m., officers responded to Ridgewood Road for a motor vehicle crash. According to police, the vehicles involved did not require towing and no injuries were reported.
Police later responded to a burglar alarm on High Road, but officers reported the alarm was canceled after a proper passcode was provided.
Around 12:26 p.m., officers responded to an automatic fire alarm on State Hill Road. Police said the incident was handled by the Wyomissing Fire Department.
During the afternoon, officers documented a walk-in complaint involving a possible theft from bank accounts on High Road. Police said the report remains under follow-up investigation.
Police also conducted a special detail at a school bus stop on Park Road North where officers observed no violations.
Later in the afternoon, officers responded to a neighbor dispute on Woodside Avenue in West Lawn involving allegations of harassment and complaints about a barking dog, police reported.
Police also responded to Cambridge Avenue near Logan Avenue for a report of a deer struck by a vehicle. According to police, the animal was gone upon officers’ arrival.
At about 6:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to Wyomissing Hills Boulevard in West Lawn after a large tree reportedly fell into the roadway. Police said borough crews were notified to remove the tree.
During the evening hours, officers conducted a traffic stop on Reading Boulevard near Wayne Avenue after observing a vehicle allegedly operating at night without headlights during rain. Police said the driver received a warning.
Police later responded to a two-vehicle crash at Hillside Road and Penn Avenue around 9:33 p.m. According to police, the crash resulted in injuries and both vehicles were towed from the scene. Authorities said one female victim was transported to a hospital.
Shortly afterward, officers investigated a reported fire on 7th Street. Police said officers checked the area but did not locate any fire.
At about 10:35 p.m., police responded to the area of Route 12 and Route 422 for a report of a man walking on the highway. According to police, officers made contact with the individual and warned him about the dangers of walking on the roadway during rainy nighttime conditions.
Police also responded to Berkshire Boulevard around 10:52 p.m. for a report of a disorderly individual acting aggressively toward workers. According to police, the individual left the area before officers arrived.
Shortly before midnight, officers were dispatched to Wyomissing Boulevard near Old Wyomissing Road for a report of an unknown man at a residence’s front door. Police said the individual was cited for public drunkenness and transported to Central Processing.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
