COATESVILLE, PA — Authorities are investigating a drive-by shooting that left an 18-year-old man injured on Wednesday evening in the City of Coatesville. The incident occurred just before 7:00 p.m. on July 30, 2025, in the 600 block of East Harmony Street, prompting an emergency response by city police.
According to the Coatesville Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:54 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers learned that a gray KIA sedan had driven past a group of individuals—four adults and one 14-year-old—who were gathered in and around a garage on the block. At least two suspects inside the vehicle reportedly fired multiple rounds from the car as it passed.
The gunfire struck 18-year-old Semaj Powell, who was hit in both the left leg and left hand. He was transported to Paoli Hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries. No other individuals were reported injured during the incident.
Investigators recovered evidence consistent with a drive-by shooting, including shell casings, and have initiated an active investigation led by Detective Sergeant Brandon L. Harris.
Law enforcement officials are urging members of the public to come forward with any information that may assist in identifying and locating the individuals responsible.
