Claymont Man Accused of Firing Gun After Crash Stuns Wilmington Community

WILMINGTON, DE — A 39-year-old Claymont resident has been arrested by Wilmington Police following an alleged shots fired incident that occurred on the evening of May 14, 2025.

Officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 7:35 PM in the 300 block of North Market Street. Upon arrival, authorities apprehended Lamar Gregory of Claymont without incident and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun at the scene.

Investigators allege that Gregory discharged his firearm following a vehicle collision. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Gregory now faces multiple charges, including two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Aggravated Menacing, and Reckless Endangering in the First Degree.

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and subsequently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. Bail has been set at $47,000 cash-only.

Authorities emphasize that the suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
