Chester County Jury Convicts Man of First-Degree Murder

Court News

WEST CHESTER, PA — A Chester County jury last week convicted Quinzell Mickey of first-degree murder and a firearms offense in the fatal shooting of 33-year-old William Stafford. The conviction mandates a minimum sentence of life imprisonment, with formal sentencing to occur at a later date.

The week-long trial revealed that on April 15, 2023, Mickey shot Stafford and immediately fled the scene, successfully evading capture for several months. Investigators compiled compelling evidence and testimony that led to his conviction.

“This was a senseless and brutal murder. Our condolences go to the family and friends of the victim,” said Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe in a statement.

The investigation was conducted by Chester County Detectives with support from the East Vincent Township Police Department and the Philadelphia Police Department. Deputy District Attorney Jessica Yurick and Assistant District Attorney Kimberly Kaelin prosecuted the case.

The sentencing will solidify justice for Stafford’s family as Mickey faces the legal consequences of his actions.
