Chester County Incidents Under Investigation by State Police

AVONDALE, PA — Pennsylvania State Police in Avondale reported multiple incidents across Chester County on February 21 and February 27, including a fatal medical emergency, a reported wire fraud totaling $400,000, a theft at a business and a driving under the influence arrest, according to a department release.

Troopers responded at approximately 5:12 p.m. February 27 to a residence on Rose View Drive in Penn Township, where a 74-year-old woman was found unresponsive in a bathroom, according to the report. She was pronounced deceased at 5:37 p.m. by West Grove EMS. State police said the investigation remains ongoing.

Earlier that day, at about 9:45 a.m., troopers were dispatched to the PSP Avondale station in London Grove Township regarding a reported wire fraud. According to the release, a 79-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman from Kennett Square reported a loss of $400,000. Police stated the investigation is pending.

At approximately 8:55 a.m. February 27, troopers were sent to Lenape Forged Products on the 1300 block of Lenape Road in Pocopson Township for a reported theft. Police said a piece of copper valued at $5,000 was reported stolen. The investigation remains ongoing.

Also on February 27, troopers responded at about 8:06 a.m. to Rosehill Road in London Grove Township for a reported trespassing incident at the Avon Grove Little League Baseball field. According to state police, a 22-year-old man from Rising Sun, Maryland, and a 31-year-old woman from West Grove were taken into custody and charges are being filed.

In a separate incident on February 21 at approximately 9:22 p.m., troopers responded to the intersection of Route 202 and Street Road in Thornbury Township for a hit-and-run crash. According to state police, the operator of the striking vehicle was allegedly under the influence and in possession of illegal substances. A 50-year-old man from Stewartstown was taken into custody, and charges are pending.

State police also investigated a suspicious person report on the 200 block of Rosehill Road in London Grove Township at about 3:15 p.m. February 27. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

All incidents remain under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police in Avondale.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
