NEW CASTLE, DE — Delaware State Police arrested a 22-year-old Wilmington man early Thursday after troopers allegedly found nearly a half-kilogram of marijuana and cash during a DUI checkpoint operation.
According to investigators, the checkpoint—organized by the Delaware Office of Highway Safety—was operating on Wilmington Road near Municipal Boulevard at approximately 12:15 a.m. on November 27, 2025. A Toyota Camry entered the checkpoint, and troopers made contact with the driver, identified as Wajahne Leggett.
Police said troopers observed several individually packaged bags of suspected marijuana and cash in plain view inside the vehicle, which they noted was consistent with drug distribution. A subsequent search of the Camry uncovered approximately 481 grams of suspected marijuana and $1,230.00 in suspected drug proceeds.

Leggett was taken into custody and transported to the New Castle City Police Department. He was charged with felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and felony possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on a $3,000.00 unsecured bond.
Troopers emphasize that all offenses described are allegations only, and any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
