Caught on Camera: Police Searching for Porch Pirate Behind West Philly Package Theft

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Detectives with the Philadelphia Police Department are requesting assistance from the public as they investigate a recent package theft that occurred in West Philadelphia.

The incident took place on the afternoon of June 26, 2025, along the 4800 block of Trinity Place. According to police, security camera footage shows an unidentified male suspect approaching a residence shortly after 2:00 p.m. and removing a package that had been left on the front porch. The individual is then seen walking toward 49th Street with the stolen item in hand.

Authorities have not disclosed the contents or estimated value of the package. The suspect’s image was captured on private surveillance systems, and investigators are working to confirm his identity.

The Philadelphia Police Department is urging anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the theft to come forward. Members of the public are advised not to approach the individual if seen but to call 911 immediately.
