Caught in the Act? Police Detail Wilmington Drug Bust That Ended in Arrest

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police announced the arrest of a 34-year-old city man on drug charges after an investigation on the city’s west side Tuesday afternoon.

According to authorities, the arrest occurred on September 9 at approximately 12:24 p.m. when officers with the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division were conducting an operation in the 1700 block of West 3rd Street. Investigators reported that they observed a man engaged in suspected drug activity before making contact with him.

The individual, identified as Stephen Jones, was taken into custody without incident. Police said he was found to be in possession of 5.36 grams of crack cocaine as well as an Alprazolam pill.

Jones now faces several charges, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and ordered held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $12,000 cash-only bail.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
