Casino Parking Lot Incident Escalates to Arrest After Threats

MORGANTOWN, PA — A man is facing charges after police said a late-night disturbance at a Berks County casino escalated into an alleged confrontation with officers.

According to Caernarvon Township Police, officers responded Thursday, March 5, at approximately 9:05 p.m. to Hollywood Casino, 6021 Morgantown Road, for a report of a disorderly individual in the parking lot.

Police reported that casino security identified a 35-year-old man, later identified as Kevin McKechan, as allegedly intoxicated and engaging in disorderly behavior.

Authorities said McKechan was located seated in a semi-truck and was advised he was banned from the property.

According to police, McKechan was transported to the Holiday Inn, 6170 Morgantown Road, where he allegedly became agitated when he could not locate his phone and threatened to return to the casino.

Police reported that McKechan allegedly approached an officer while making threatening statements and gestures and refused multiple commands to return to his room.

Authorities said the situation escalated when McKechan allegedly resisted as an officer attempted to take him into custody, requiring assistance from another officer.

McKechan was arrested March 6 and charged with disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and resisting arrest, according to police.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
