DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office is asking potential victims to come forward in connection with a Quakertown Farmer’s Market shop owner accused of targeting teenage employees.
According to investigators, 36-year-old Joseph Michael Grossman, owner of Poppy’s Peanuts at the market, was arrested on August 15 following a Richland Township Police investigation that began in June. Police said a 17-year-old girl reported that while employed by Grossman, he frequently made inappropriate remarks and touched her in an unwelcome manner. After she left her job, Grossman allegedly continued contacting her on social media. She told police he later invited her to meet him after store hours, where he offered her money and marijuana in exchange for a sexual act.
Following news of his arrest, authorities said a second victim came forward with similar allegations. That individual told investigators that while working for Grossman, he often made sexual comments and touched her inappropriately. She also alleged that he provided her with drugs.
Grossman was initially charged with promoting the prostitution of a minor and corruption of minors. After the second victim’s account, prosecutors added additional counts of corruption of minors. A preliminary hearing was held on September 18, and all charges were held for trial. Grossman is currently out on bail.
Assistant District Attorney Jessica Frost is prosecuting the case. Given the allegations from multiple individuals, investigators believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact Richland Township Police Detective Matthew Lawhead at 215-536-9500. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
All charges are allegations, and a suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
