OXFORD, PA — Oxford Borough police have arrested a local man months after an alleged domestic disturbance that authorities say left a woman injured and led to the issuance of a criminal warrant.
Police said Alejandro Cortes-Ortega, 33, of Oxford, was taken into custody on January 30, 2026, in the 200 block of South Fourth Street. He was transported to the Oxford Police Department for processing before being committed to the Chester County Prison. Court records indicate Cortes-Ortega was arraigned and is being held on $7,500.00 bail at 10 percent. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 10, 2026, at Oxford District Court.
Cortes-Ortega is charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct for allegedly engaging in fighting, and harassment involving physical contact.
The charges stem from an incident reported on July 14, 2025, at approximately 10:22 p.m., when Oxford police were dispatched to the 500 block of Lincoln Street for a reported domestic disturbance. According to police, officers made contact with a female victim who was observed with multiple injuries to her face.
Police allege the victim stated that Cortes-Ortega struck her multiple times in the face, causing the injuries. Authorities said Cortes-Ortega was no longer at the residence when officers arrived and could not be located that evening. Due to the extent of the reported injuries, the victim was transported by emergency medical services for treatment.
A criminal arrest warrant was issued on July 15, 2025, by Oxford District Court. The warrant was held by the Oxford Borough Police Department until Cortes-Ortega’s arrest earlier this year.
All charges detailed in the criminal complaint are allegations. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
