Arrest Made in Wilmington Grocery Hold-Up as Police Hunt Second Suspect

WILMINGTON, DEDelaware State Police have arrested a Wilmington man in connection with an armed robbery at a neighborhood grocery store, and investigators are seeking a second suspect who remains at large.

According to troopers, the robbery occurred around 3:30 p.m. on November 14, 2025, at La Oaxaqueña Grocery Store on North Maryland Avenue. Two suspects reportedly entered the store, demanded money, and one of them pointed a handgun at employees and customers.

During the confrontation, police say the armed suspect lost his balance while reaching over the counter, causing the gun to discharge. No injuries were reported. The pair fled with cash and personal property, escaping in a dark-colored sedan.

Investigators later identified the getaway car as a black Hyundai Elantra with Virginia plates. On November 15, Wilmington Police located the vehicle and stopped it. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Ignacio Reyes-Hernandez, was taken into custody and later linked to the robbery.

Reyes-Hernandez was transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with first-degree robbery, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and second-degree conspiracy. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $68,000 cash bond.

Detectives continue to search for the second suspect, described as a Black male standing between 6 feet 2 inches and 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 200 to 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, black boots, and a black ski mask.
