WILMINGTON, DE — A Greensboro, North Carolina man has been arrested and extradited to Delaware in connection with a 2020 fatal shooting in Wilmington, marking a significant development in a case that had remained unsolved for nearly five years.
Authorities said that on October 25, 2020, at approximately 4:13 p.m., Wilmington Police officers responded to the area of East 23rd and North Pine Streets after reports of gunfire. At the scene, officers found 24-year-old Raquan Davis suffering from gunshot wounds. Davis was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.
The case was initially investigated by Detective Sgt. Steven Bender of the Criminal Investigations Division and was later reopened by the department’s Cold Case Unit. Detectives Kevin Nolan and Devon Jones, along with Investigator Steven Rizzo, continued reviewing evidence, which ultimately led to the identification of 30-year-old Desmin Walker as a suspect.
On September 29, 2025, the case was presented to the New Castle County Grand Jury, which returned an indictment against Walker. He was arrested in Greensboro, North Carolina, on October 14 and extradited to Delaware on October 30.
Walker faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, and first-degree reckless endangering. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1,180,000 cash-only bail.
Police emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
