Alarms, Theft Report, and Storm Damage Keep Wyomissing Police Busy

Police News

WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police officers responded to a wide range of calls throughout Friday, December 19, 2025, including multiple alarm activations, an alleged retail theft, storm-related hazards, and reports of suspicious activity, according to the department’s daily incident log.

Police activity began in the early morning hours with several burglar alarm calls at commercial and residential properties. On Old Mill Road shortly before 2:00 a.m., officers responded to an alarm where a rear door was found unsecured. Police conducted an interior check but were unable to secure the door without a keyholder present. A short time later on Timberline Drive, officers determined a rear door had likely blown open due to heavy winds, and the incident was attributed to storm conditions. Additional alarm calls on Woodland Road and Berkshire Boulevard were later determined to be unfounded or canceled prior to officer arrival.

During the morning hours, police assisted West Reading officers in a search for a reportedly missing and endangered woman believed to be in the Penn Avenue area. Officers checked several nearby businesses, but the individual was not located.

At approximately 9:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to Crossing Drive for a reported retail theft. Police gathered information at the scene, and the incident remains under investigation. No arrest information was released.

Officers also handled several quality-of-life and enforcement-related calls throughout the day. These included parking violations on Dauphin Avenue, a civil dispute between neighboring businesses on Bern Road, and a duress alarm on Park Road North that was later confirmed to be accidental. Police also responded to an automatic fire alarm on Park Road North, which was already being handled by the Wyomissing Fire Department upon arrival.

Midday activity included a narcotics-related call on Evans Avenue, where officers recovered an Act 64 syringe and collected it for destruction. Police reported the owner of the item was unknown. Later, a report of a possible vehicle theft on State Hill Road was investigated and determined to be unfounded.

Several traffic and roadway incidents were also reported. Officers responded to a non-reportable motor vehicle accident on Woodland Road with no injuries or tows required. Storm-related calls included reports of large tree branches blocking portions of Reading Boulevard and Delaware Avenue, prompting police to secure the areas and notify borough crews for removal.

In the evening, police responded to complaints of excessive noise on Park Road North involving a person playing drums and advised the complainant to contact property management. Officers also handled a background check request for employment, a 911 hang-up call that was confirmed accidental, and assisted Spring Township police by transferring a lost wallet that had been turned in at headquarters.

The day concluded with routine traffic enforcement, including a speeding stop on West Shore Bypass that resulted in a warning, and the placement of an abandoned vehicle notice on an inoperable vehicle near Route 422.

Police reported a total of 23 incidents handled during the day. All reported crimes or enforcement actions remain allegations. Any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
