WILMINGTON, DEDelaware State Police have arrested 40-year-old Daniel Quesenberry of Wilmington in connection with an alleged burglary at the property of the former Emily F. Bissell Hospital last week.

The incident occurred on April 21, 2025, when investigators allege that Quesenberry entered the state-owned property, located at 3000 Newport Gap Pike, during the night. According to police, Quesenberry used tools to forcefully enter two separate structures on the property, causing substantial damage and theft.

Reports suggest that the initial break-in began around 11:52 p.m. at the first structure, during which an unknown quantity of copper water pipes was removed, resulting in significant flooding. Afterward, the suspect is alleged to have driven a stolen dark grey Toyota Tacoma into the garage door of a second building to gain access. Once inside, police say Quesenberry stole over $6,500 worth of property and inflicted thousands of dollars in additional damage.

Detectives from Troop 2 Property Crimes Unit later learned that the Toyota Tacoma used in the alleged crime had been reported stolen days earlier from New Castle County. Through collaborative efforts with the New Castle County Police Department, Quesenberry was identified as the suspect, leading to charges against him.

On April 23, Quesenberry was taken into custody on unrelated charges and subsequently charged with multiple felonies, including two counts of third-degree burglary, theft of $1,500 or more, and possession of burglar tools. Additional charges include criminal mischief and criminal trespass. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $29,150 secured bond.
