WYOMISSING, PA — A reported $4,100 retail theft, a countywide human trafficking operation, disorderly conduct complaints, and multiple traffic and safety incidents kept Wyomissing police officers busy throughout Thursday, January 15, according to the Wyomissing Police Department’s official daily activity log.
Police documented 18 separate incidents during the day, spanning everything from alleged theft and disorderly behavior to a reportable vehicle crash involving borough property damage.
One of the most significant alleged crimes was reported shortly after 1:20 p.m. on Crossing Drive, where officers responded to a retail theft complaint involving merchandise valued at approximately $4,100. The case was listed as “officer follow-up,” and the investigation remained ongoing at the close of the reporting period.
Earlier in the afternoon, officers responded to North Wyomissing Boulevard for a disorderly conduct complaint. Police said the situation was under control upon arrival, but damage had been done to vehicles. Information was recorded for investigative purposes.
Another disorderly conduct-related incident was reported on Old Mill Road, where a resident told police that an unknown man had removed a package from a driveway, opened it, and then left it behind. Officers documented the incident and gathered information.
Wyomissing police also participated in a broader law enforcement effort related to human trafficking. From 8:00 a.m. through late afternoon, officers assisted with a county task force investigation involving a human trafficking detail conducted at two hotels along Reading Boulevard. According to the log, 24 men were arrested for allegedly patronizing prostitutes as part of that operation. Those arrests were handled through the task force, and all charges are allegations.
Traffic and roadway safety issues accounted for a significant portion of the day’s calls. Officers issued warnings for multiple alleged traffic violations, including red-light violations on Crossing Drive, improper lane movements on North Wyomissing Boulevard, and lighting violations on Park Road North. No injuries were reported in those stops.
At approximately 2:00 p.m., police responded to a single-vehicle crash at Reading Boulevard and Wyomissing Boulevard. Investigators said the vehicle jumped a curb, causing damage to borough property. No injuries were reported, but the vehicle was towed and the borough was notified.
Police also handled several public safety and quality-of-life calls, including reports of soliciting near Lincoln Avenue and Reading Boulevard, welfare checks on Berkshire Boulevard, neighbor disputes involving noise complaints, and multiple 911 hang-up calls that were ultimately determined to be accidental.
A walk-in harassment complaint was also documented during the evening hours. Police said both parties were contacted and warned.
While the daily log includes references to arrests and alleged criminal conduct, police emphasized that all incidents remain subject to investigation. Any person identified as a suspect, arrestee, or defendant in these matters is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
