PHILADELPHIA, PA — Seventeen individuals are facing felony charges following a multi-agency investigation into an alleged drug trafficking organization operating in North Philadelphia and beyond, authorities said.
According to the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, the arrests stem from an investigation into the alleged Louis Alexander Drug Trafficking Organization.
Authorities reported that 16 individuals were taken into custody while search warrants were executed at approximately 30 locations last week, primarily in North Philadelphia, as well as in other parts of the city, Delaware County, and New Jersey. A 17th individual surrendered March 27.
Investigators said the defendants, including 56-year-old Louis Alexander, are accused of participating in a drug distribution operation involving cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and other substances.
Police reported that during the searches, law enforcement allegedly seized more than four pounds of cocaine, approximately 130 pounds of marijuana, Ecstasy pills, cash proceeds, and 27 firearms.
According to authorities, the defendants face charges including corrupt organizations, possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, and illegal possession of firearms.
Officials said bail amounts vary among the defendants. Alexander remains incarcerated on $750,000 bail, while additional defendants are being held or face detainers related to parole or probation violations.
Authorities identified those charged as Louis Alexander, Carl Gates, Kendal Wilson, Gloria Alexander, Isaiah Washington-Trotty, Tyrone Scott, Marcus Clark, Isaiah Gallashaw, Cedric Carter, Paul Johnson, Eric Crawford, Corey Smith, Steven Birton, Tammika Billups, Domanick Pope, Calvin Gambrell, and Philip Smith.
The investigation remains ongoing, including inquiries into the firearms seized and any potential connections to violent crimes, according to authorities.
The case is being prosecuted by the Office of Attorney General’s Drug Strike Force Section.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
