Two Break-Ins Lead to Arrest in Wilmington Burglary Case

WILMINGTON, DE — A 42-year-old man has been charged following an investigation into a reported burglary involving two alleged break-ins at a Wilmington property.

According to Wilmington Police, officers responded at approximately 10:00 a.m. on March 31 to the 1300 block of North French Street for a burglary complaint.

Police reported that the victim told officers an unknown suspect allegedly entered the building on two separate occasions and removed property.

Authorities said the case was assigned to Detective Jessica Gledhill of the Criminal Investigations Division, who, according to investigators, identified Richard Gibson as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.

Police reported that on April 2, officers located Gibson in the area of East 9th and Kirkwood streets and took him into custody without incident.

According to authorities, Gibson has been charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of theft under $1,500, two counts of criminal mischief under $1,000, and one count of third-degree criminal trespass.

Police stated he was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $6,300 secured bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
