Teen Arrested After Gunfire Probe Uncovers Weapons, Drugs

WILMINGTON, DE — A 17-year-old male is accused of firearms and drug offenses following an investigation into a shots-fired incident last month, according to Wilmington Police.

Police reported that the investigation began after a shots-fired incident on March 25, 2026, in the 1600 block of West 6th Street. Detectives with the Gun Intelligence Unit identified a juvenile male as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.

According to investigators, officers executed a search warrant at approximately 7:00 a.m. on April 9 in the 1600 block of West 6th Street and took the 17-year-old into custody without incident.

Police said officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, ammunition, approximately 1.32 grams of heroin, and drug paraphernalia during the search.

Authorities reported the juvenile has been charged with first-degree reckless endangering, four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and possession of a controlled substance.

According to police, the juvenile was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $45,000 cash-only bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
