Quiet Borough, Hidden Chaos: 21 Calls Rock Wyomissing in a Single Day

WYOMISSING, PA — Police responded to a range of incidents throughout the borough on April 7, including reports of suspicious activity, accidents, fraud, and alarm activations, according to the Wyomissing Police Department.

Shortly after midnight, officers were dispatched at 12:06 a.m. to Hill Avenue for a report of a possible robbery. Police reported that the call originated from Reading Police, but responding officers found no evidence of an incident in the borough, and employees at the location were unaware of any robbery.

At approximately 3:56 a.m., officers responded to a burglar alarm on Berkshire Boulevard. Police reported the building was checked and found to be secure, and the alarm was determined to be false.

Later in the morning, at 8:05 a.m., a cellular phone was turned in at Borough Hall on Reading Boulevard. Police reported the owner later retrieved the device.

At 9:09 a.m., officers handled a report of a repossessed vehicle on Berkshire Boulevard. Police stated the owner was aware of the repossession.

Emergency services were dispatched at 10:51 a.m. to Cambridge Avenue for an automatic fire alarm. Police reported the Wyomissing Fire Department was already on scene managing the situation. A second fire alarm was reported at 11:21 a.m. on State Hill Road, where authorities determined the activation was related to maintenance work on a broken pipe.

At approximately 11:59 a.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 422 near North Wyomissing Boulevard. Police reported that one vehicle rear-ended another as traffic slowed. No injuries or towing were required.

Minutes later, at 12:02 p.m., police were dispatched to Meadowlark Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle. According to investigators, the complainant believed the driver may have been waiting to steal packages. Officers made contact with the occupant, who stated she was a therapist waiting for an appointment, and no further action was taken.

At 12:50 p.m., police received Megan’s Law-related information regarding an individual working in the borough. Authorities logged the information with no further action reported.

Officers conducted a community policing detail at 1:00 p.m. on North Wyomissing Boulevard, where a presentation was given to students, according to police.

At 2:22 p.m., a resident on Wellington Boulevard reported possible bank fraud activity at a business in neighboring Spring Township. Police documented the complaint.

A burglar alarm call at 2:59 p.m. on Girard Avenue was canceled by the security company before officers completed the response, according to authorities.

At approximately 3:34 p.m., police responded to a report of property damage on North Wyomissing Boulevard near Route 422. According to police, a vehicle was struck by debris while traveling under a railroad bridge, and the owner requested documentation of the incident.

Later in the day, at 4:29 p.m., a complainant reported suspected fraudulent activity involving a relative’s financial account. Police stated the individual planned to file a formal report in person.

At 6:35 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Reading Boulevard and Wyomissing Boulevard. Police reported both drivers appeared uninjured, and one vehicle was towed from the scene.

At 7:12 p.m., an automatic fire alarm was reported on Timberline Drive. Authorities said the activation was caused by smoke from cooking, and emergency services were canceled after the homeowner provided a valid code.

Police were dispatched at 7:25 p.m. to Berkshire Boulevard near State Hill Road for a report of a suspicious person. Officers made contact with the individual, who was released without further action.

At 7:49 p.m., officers responded to a burglar alarm on Reed Avenue. Police reported the building was secure, and the alarm was triggered after an employee left without entering the proper code.

At 7:59 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted on State Hill Road near Penn Avenue. Police reported the driver was issued a warning for operating a vehicle without headlights.

Shortly before midnight, at 11:53 p.m., officers responded to another burglar alarm on State Hill Road. Police reported the building was checked and no emergency was found.

In total, police documented 21 incidents across the borough throughout the day, according to authorities.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
