Overdose, Pedestrian Crash Among Wyomissing Police Incidents

WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police responded to a wide range of incidents between April 3 and April 6, including an overdose, a pedestrian crash, a retail theft, and multiple traffic violations, according to department records.

Police reported that at 10:44 p.m. Friday, April 3, officers were dispatched to Park Road North for an overdose involving a known male who had consumed a bottle of pills. According to authorities, EMS transported the individual to Reading Hospital for treatment.

Earlier that day, at 11:38 a.m., officers responded to Spring Street for a disorderly conduct incident. Police said the individual was transported by officers to another location.

At 7:40 p.m. Saturday, April 4, officers were dispatched to State Hill Road for a pedestrian crash. According to investigators, a vehicle allegedly struck a pedestrian while exiting a parking space. The pedestrian was transported to Reading Hospital by ambulance. No tow was required.

Police also reported a retail theft incident at 10:31 a.m. Saturday, April 4, on State Hill Road, where approximately $308 in merchandise was allegedly stolen. Authorities said the individual was apprehended and transported to the Berks County Prison.

On Sunday, April 5, at 3:09 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Ramp O. Police said there were no reported injuries, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police handled several medical and welfare-related calls during the period. At 2:59 p.m. Sunday, April 5, officers responded to Greenwich Street and Oley Street for a medical assist, which was handled by EMS. Later that evening at 9:28 p.m., officers conducted a welfare check on State Hill Road after a report that an individual was not responding to messages. Police said the situation was determined to be safe.

Authorities also responded to multiple reports of excessive noise. At 2:29 p.m. Sunday, April 5, officers were dispatched to Park Road North, where a resident was advised to lower loud music. Later that evening, officers handled a phone complaint regarding an ongoing noise issue on Old Mill Road.

On Monday, April 6, police reported a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 11:48 a.m. at the intersection of Penn Avenue and Reading Avenue. According to investigators, a three-vehicle crash occurred when one vehicle allegedly rear-ended another, pushing it into a third vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle was transported to the hospital.

Police also responded to a water main break at 11:55 a.m. Monday on Park Road South. Authorities said borough crews were notified, and the roadway was closed until further notice.

Additional incidents included a two-vehicle crash at Route 422 and Route 12 at 9:23 a.m. Monday, where police said both vehicles sideswiped each other while merging. No injuries were reported.

Throughout the four-day period, officers conducted numerous traffic stops across the borough, resulting in multiple warnings and citations for violations including speeding, window tint, suspended licenses, signal violations, and improper lane movements.

Police also responded to several burglar alarm activations, most of which were determined to be false alarms or accidental triggers, as well as multiple 911 hang-up calls that were confirmed to be accidental.

Other incidents included a report of property damage on Delaware Avenue on Saturday evening after a tree fell onto a residence, an abandoned vehicle on Route 222 early Saturday morning, and a report of a reckless driver near Route 222 and Route 422 where the vehicle had left the area before police arrival.

Authorities assisted neighboring jurisdictions, including responding to a non-injury crash involving a police vehicle in West Reading and assisting with a domestic-related call requiring translation services.

Police said all incidents were handled without further action unless otherwise noted.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
