CLAYMONT, DE — A Claymont man is accused of threatening two students with a firearm near an elementary school Wednesday morning, state police said.

According to the Delaware State Police, the incident occurred on April 1, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m. near Claymont Elementary School, located at 3401 Green Street.

Police reported that a red Nissan sedan, driven by a man wearing a face covering, arrived at the school shortly before the start of the school day. A female passenger exited the vehicle to escort students into the building while the driver parked nearby on Green Street.

Investigators said that while waiting in the vehicle, the driver allegedly engaged in a verbal exchange with two students who approached him. During the encounter, police said the driver allegedly displayed what the students believed to be a handgun and threatened to shoot them.
