PHILADELPHIA, PA — Zephyr Cove Resort, operated by Aramark Destinations, has achieved two major environmental designations and reported significant progress in its July Fourth cleanup efforts, reinforcing its leadership in protecting Lake Tahoe’s shoreline.

The resort was recently awarded the Leave No Trace Gold Standard Hospitality Designation, the highest recognition for organizations that exemplify strong outdoor ethics and environmental education. Additionally, Zephyr Cove was named a Tahoe Blue Beach Member as part of the innovative program launched by Keep Tahoe Blue, in partnership with the USDA Forest Service and local stakeholders.

“At Aramark, we believe that environmental responsibility is fundamental to delivering exceptional guest experiences, and we’re proud to support places that inspire people to connect with the outdoors in meaningful ways,” said Sasha Day, President & CEO of Aramark Destinations. “Zephyr Cove Resort’s recent designations and holiday cleanup efforts reflect the kind of leadership and community spirit that help keep Lake Tahoe clean and cherished by all who visit.”

Over the July Fourth weekend, staff and volunteers encouraged visitors to practice Leave No Trace principles by distributing recycling bags and running a “recycle store” where guests exchanged recyclables for prizes. On July 5, as part of Keep Tahoe Blue’s “Keep Tahoe Red, White & Blue Beach Cleanup,” 72 volunteers helped remove over 85 pounds of litter from Zephyr Cove — a 48% decrease compared to 2024 and a 97% reduction since cleanup efforts began at the site.

“Our team is deeply dedicated to protecting Lake Tahoe’s natural beauty while creating memorable experiences for our guests,” said Kevin Schiesz, Tahoe District Manager for Aramark Destinations. “These continued efforts are a testament to what’s possible when community, innovation, and environmental responsibility come together.”

Supporting these initiatives, Zephyr Cove has expanded eco-friendly infrastructure, including new bike racks, improved waste disposal and recycling stations, water refill points, and compostable product offerings throughout the property.

With ongoing support from partners such as Keep Tahoe Blue, Leave No Trace, Eco-Products, Kastlfel, Keurig Dr Pepper, PepsiCo, and Progressive Insurance, Zephyr Cove Resort plans to continue aligning its environmental goals with regional tourism strategies to ensure Lake Tahoe remains a national treasure for generations to come.
