PHILADELPHIA, PA — Sow Good Now will host its inaugural basketball GiveBack event with the St. Joseph’s University Women’s team on Monday, July 14. The event will take place at the Maguire Athletic Center in Philadelphia, offering a unique opportunity for forty girls, ages 12 to 15, from Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs to learn basketball skills directly from collegiate athletes.
Participants will include girls from The Heights School in Philadelphia and the Main Line Girls Basketball Association. Many of these young athletes have had limited access to formal sports instruction, making this event a valuable introduction to the game. Through hands-on coaching from St. Joseph’s University players, the girls will receive not only fundamental basketball training but also mentorship and encouragement to build confidence on and off the court.
Founded in 2018, Sow Good Now has been committed to enriching the lives of children across Philadelphia, Chester, and Delaware counties. By connecting college athletes with local youth, the organization aims to foster community engagement, inspire leadership, and promote healthy lifestyles among children in underserved areas.
The event highlights Sow Good Now’s broader mission of creating opportunities for young people who might not otherwise have access to organized sports. By pairing promising athletes with college role models, the organization helps bridge gaps in resources and exposure, empowering the next generation to strive for their goals both academically and athletically.
The GiveBack will run from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s University’s Maguire Athletic Center, located at 2450 N. 54th Street, Philadelphia.
