Xfinity Channels Oz? New Wicked-Themed Short Film Puts Its Tech Ecosystem Center Stage

Jeff Goldblum

PHILADELPHIA, PAComcast’s Xfinity brand is leaning into Hollywood magic with the release of a new short film featuring Jeff Goldblum reprising his role as The Wizard from Universal Pictures’ Wicked franchise. The spot debuts ahead of Wicked: For Good, the final installment of the blockbuster series arriving in theaters November 21, and serves as the marquee launch for Xfinity’s new “Imagine That” brand platform.

The film, produced in partnership with Universal Pictures and creative teams across Comcast NBCUniversal, aims to showcase how Xfinity’s suite of Internet, mobile, home security, and entertainment products works together inside the modern connected home. Viewed through the imagination of a child, the short follows Goldblum after he leaves the movie premiere, blending whimsical Oz-inspired visual effects with everyday household tasks powered by Xfinity devices.

Goldblum’s wife and children appear in the spot, alongside a cameo from Wicked choreographer Christopher Scott. The production also drew on the franchise’s creative talent: Alice Brooks, the cinematographer for the Wicked films, directed the short, while Batu Sener contributed musical arrangements featuring familiar notes from “Wonderful” and “Defying Gravity.”

Jon Gieselman, Chief Growth Officer for Connectivity & Platforms at Comcast, said the campaign reflects how Xfinity’s technology supports daily life. “The Wicked films show us that magic lives inside all of us. Xfinity does the same inside our homes,” he said. He emphasized that Xfinity’s ecosystem—from its WiFi and mobile service to smart-home capabilities—creates a seamless customer experience “without smoke and mirrors.”

The short film also highlights Xfinity’s positioning as a fully integrated connectivity and entertainment provider. Customers can watch the full spot and behind-the-scenes content by saying “Wicked: For Good” into their voice remote, while a 60-second version will run in theaters nationwide.
